Will Justin Bieber Dress Up As Buzz Lightyear In 'Boyfriend' Video?

Singer weighs in on how literal the video will get and when fans might get to hear more from Believe.
By Jocelyn Vena, with reporting by Kelly Marino

<P><P>The countdown is on to <a href="http://www.mtv.com/music/artist/bieber_justin/artist.jhtml">Justin Bieber</a>'s next album release, <a href="/news/articles/1682856/justin-bieber-believe-rapping.jhtml"><i>Believe</a>.</i> And if the response to the album's first single, <a href="/news/articles/1682789/justin-bieber-boyfriend-video-believe.jhtml">"Boyfriend,"</a> is any indication, the record's appeal might span far beyond the realm of his devoted Beliebers. </P><P> </P><P>"The reaction's been great [to 'Boyfriend']; not only have I got good reactions from my fans, but great reactions from people who, you know, [might not usually listen to my music]. I've gotten messages like 'You know, I never would have listened to Justin and now I love this song,' " he explained to MTV News. "So, it's really great feedback." </P><P> </P><P><CENTER><embed src="http://media.mtvnservices.com/mgid:uma:video:mtv.com:757407/cp~name%3Dnews%26id%3D1682760%26vid%3D757407%26uri%3Dmgid%3Auma%3Avideo%3Amtv.com%3A757407" width="430" height="242" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowFullScreen="true" allowScriptAccess="always" base="."></embed></CENTER> </P><P> </P><P>It's that kind of enthusiasm that Bieber is taking with him as he works on the record in its final stages. He's already hit the studio with folks like Drake, will.i.am, Diplo and Usher and is just chugging along before he has to wrap up and send it out into the world. </P><P> </P><P>"There's not a confirmed release date. It's this summer. I'm really happy with the outcome of it so far," he said. "I mean, we're almost done. We're just kind of putting the finishing touches on it. It should be good." </P><P> </P><P>But before then, fans will have to satisfy their appetites with the Colin Tilley-directed "Boyfriend" video, which should drop in the near future. Unfortunately, the visual won't mirror the single's <a href="/news/articles/1681514/justin-bieber-boyfriend-lyrics.jhtml">choice lyrics</a>, "I could be your Buzz Lightyear/ Fly across the globe." </P><P> </P><P>"No, no, I won't be dressed up as Buzz Lightyear," he said. "I think there's some copyright issues, I can't use that." </P><P> </P><P>We look forward to seeing whether Bieber will be "Chillin' by the fire while we eatin' fondue" in the clip.</p></p>

Justin Bieber Spotted Kissing A Brunette On 'Boyfriend' Set

Singer kisses the hand of his female co-star on the L.A. set of upcoming music video.
By Jocelyn Vena

<P><a href="http://www.mtv.com/music/artist/bieber_justin/artist.jhtml">Justin Bieber</a> seems to be getting romantic in his video for "Boyfriend." </P><P> </P><P>The singer was spotted over the weekend in Los Angeles shooting more scenes from the highly anticipated clip. In one picture, Bieber is seen kissing a dark-haired lady's hand. In addition to getting cozy with the pretty lady, Bieber jumps into a convertible on a set with a few muscle cars. </P><P> </P><P><a href="http://www.mtv.com/photos/?fid=1617615"><img src="http://www.mtv.com/news/photos/s/spotted/banner/spotted.jpg"></a> </P><P> </P><P>If fans are worried about what girlfriend Selena Gomez might think of Bieber being affectionate with his onscreen co-star, they shouldn't worry. Gomez reportedly stopped by the set to visit her BF, according to <a href="http://www.gossipcop.com/justin-bieber-boyfriend-set-photos-selena-gomez-lookalike-pics-video/" target="_blank">Gossipcop.com</a>, and the pair shared in a few offscreen kisses. </P><P> </P><P>Justin has been hard <a href="/news/articles/1683042/justin-bieber-boyfriend-buzz-lightyear.jhtml">at work on his "Boyfriend" video</a> for a while now. And he made it clear to MTV News that despite the song's lyrics, he won't be donning any costumes in the Colin Tilley-directed video. "I won't be dressed up as Buzz Lightyear," he said. "I think there's some copyright issues; I can't use that." </P><P> </P><P>The new stills give fans another glimpse of what to expect from the video, which have up until now mostly been teases of the singer in shadow or with only a black backdrop behind him as women put their hands all over him. "The <a href="/news/articles/1682156/justin-bieber-explains-boyfriend-video.jhtml">concept of this video</a>, I mean, it's not like a steady concept," he said back in March. "It's not like 'Justin follows this girl to this spot.' No, it's a bunch of amazing scenes: like a fire scene, we have an ice scene. </P><P> </P><P>"It's kind of like bouncing back and forth," he said. "And then there's scenes of me and just a bunch of girl dancers, and just some great shots, great artistic shots, great shots of me smiling. It's fun." </P><P> </P><P>"Boyfriend" is the lead single off Bieber's June 19 release, <a href="/news/articles/1683335/justin-bieber-believe-the-voice.jhtml"><i>Believe.</i></a> </P><P> </P><P><embed src="http://media.mtvnservices.com/mgid:uma:video:mtv.com:754722/cp~vid%3D754722%26uri%3Dmgid%3Auma%3Avideo%3Amtv.com%3A754722" width="460" height="260" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowFullScreen="true" allowScriptAccess="always" base="."></embed> </P><P> </P><P><i>What do you think of the latest shots from Justin's "Boyfriend" video? With a Little Luck: A Novel

My good friend Caprice Crane's new book, With a Little Luck, is out today. Yay, Caprice!

It's gotten great reviews:

"Crane is one of the funniest writers of popular fiction around. The dialog (inner and outer) is laugh-out-loud, snort-inducing hilarious . . . Readers will want to cross their fingers and spit while throwing salt over their shoulders if it helps Berry reach her dreams. Highly recommended."

Library Journal

"Fans of Stacy Ballis and Cara Lockwood will appreciate Crane's effortlessly funny style, which is often attempted in popular fiction but is rarely this well executed...Lighthearted and charmingly honest."

—Booklist

"[A] satisfying romantic comedy...[with] real character growth."

—Kirkus Reviews

And even better blurbs:

"Romantic, poignant and funny—this book is a lucky find for lit fans. Caprice Crane is a nimble and gifted storyteller."

—Diablo Cody, Academy Award-winning screenwriter of Juno

"A hilarious romp that oozes charm and giddy fun. Caprice Crane is a true talent."

—Molly Jong-Fast, author of The Social Climber's Handbook

"Witty, fast-paced, and sheer fun. Caprice Crane is a master of dialogue. Half the time I was reading this book I was smiling, which made me look like a crazy person on the subway."

—Jancee Dunn, author of Don’t You Forget About Me and Why Is My Mother Getting a Tattoo?

"Absolutely charming and hilarious."

—Missy Peregrym, star of the movie Stick It and ABC's Rookie Blue

"With a Little Luck scores in humor, head, and heart. In other words, it’s a perfect trifecta."

—Karyn Bosnak, author of 20 Times a Lady (soon to be the major motion picture What's Your Number?)

(Omg, who is that last fantastic blurber?) (I meant every word of it.)

And most importantly, she has the cutest dog ever (who likes to video chat with Bev):

Anyway, check it out, buy it—it's fantastic!

'American Idol' Castoff Colton Dixon Talks 'Weird' Song Choice

Christian rocker says fans may have been 'turned off' when he decided to perform Lady Gaga's 'Bad Romance.'

American Idol had fans scratching their heads two weeks in a row after another shocking elimination. Potential favorite Colton Dixon, the Christian rocker from Tennessee, found himself in unfamiliar territory on last week's episode, landing in the bottom three for the first time. Fans were convinced that he would return to the couch, but after 53 million votes, Dixon was sent packing.

What's the reason for his early exit? Well, according to Dixon, it was his song choice. The 20-year-old took the stage to perform two songs that night, the first being Lady Gaga's smash single, "Bad Romance."

"I'm like, 'I can metal the snot out of this song,' " Dixon told MTV News on Monday (April 23) about his thought process in choosing the song. "I just started getting giddy thinking about it. I saw the smoke and I was like, 'I'm in!' and I ran with it."

But now, Colton feels that the message of the song may have offended his fanbase.

"I had fun with the song, that was who I was and I had a blast with it," Dixon said. "And you know, it's not necessarily a bad message, we all want something that's not good for us, but that's how I took the song and I had to edit around some of Gaga's choice words to have it fit me a little better. But still, I think my audience heard Gaga and just went 'Oh, weird' and kinda turned off a little bit, which I understand. I take such a strong stance in my faith, I do understand."

Yet, Dixon has no hard feelings against the song, or Lady Gaga, whom he happens to be a big fan of. "I love her, I do. She's a great artist and she can sing her tail off and that's what I love," Dixon revealed. "She does whatever she can and whatever she has to do to stay on top of the music industry and she does a great job of it."

Were you surprised to see Colton leave "American Idol"? Let us know in the comments.
